Okay so this is just a preface and something personal that I will be sharing here. This doesn’t have much educational value but I always wanted to let people know my story should they ever change upon this blog post.
So it all began at a tender age of 15. Being introduced to the world of sports and playing with my friends during recess. Spending hours on end playing soccer, basketball, badminton and ever so dipping my toe into the school gym as a ways to burn time.
After which the passion for sport grew tremendously, going on to study sports science and also getting a distinction grade for my sports science exams.
Graduated secondary school at 16, went on to polytechnic and joining a sports CCA (co-corriculum activity). That CCA was dragonboat. A physically demanding water sport when gym trainings were part and parcel of my week now. That’s when I started to pay more attention to physique and with the boom of the internet and fitness influencers, I’ve been sucked into it as well.
However, I did not pay mind to dieting or proper training. Everyone done was according to prescription from the coach (which wasn’t very good now looking back on retrospect, but taught many valuable moral lessons nonetheless). That phase was just a solid 3 years of dirty bulking, eating whatever I wanted not paying attention to the actual nutritional value. This was where the major boom of strength came. Newbie gains, going from a 40kg bench press all the way to an 90kg bench press PR. Doing hundreds of weighted pull-ups from being able to do 3 bodyweight pullups to doing 20kg weighted pullups for 10 reps.
With the increase in strength being so gradual, I didn’t even notice it at first. Only after stepping after graduating from polytechnic did I realize I had come a long way since 5 years ago.
The last phase before I decided to take my health and fitness seriously was when I was in the army. It isn’t anything glamouros being born and raised in Singapore, where it is a consrciption based army, meaning every male above the age of 18 has to serve. To top it off, being “lucky” enough to land a role as an army driver was a double edged sword. Many shy away or are reluctant to join the army due to the rigorous training and time consumption, and being a driver certainly meant that I had an easier time compared to my peers who were engaged in combat training, spending weeks in the jungle feeding mosquitos and sweating their camo off. However that relaxed lifestyle caused me to balloon and gain 8kg of which I’m sure is not muscle.
All the time just enjoying life as it is can’t to an abrupt stop when the was a breakup. Now I’m human too, having a mini depressive episode. But using that as a form of motivation to switch things around and take charge of my health and fitness was certainly a great trigger and blessing in disguise.
After which I’ve spent 6 months doing research about diets, exercise plans, workout, nutrition and furthering that action by taking action and committing to a 4 month diet and workout plan.
The rest is history. Equipped with knowledge and results that are clear as day along with a new found confidence, hoping that this knowledge and learning journey can help someone else who may be in a similar situation.
In conclusion, this is my journey. It’s not a heart wrenching, emotion tugging story where I overcame mountains and valleys. Just an average person, with goals that many share. But the difference is mindset and discipline, setting me on a road that I have no regrets stepping on.

Till then, Eadric
